The scheme has lost favour with our organisation due to the fact that when someone is on a period of unpaid leave, i.e. maternity leave, we have to continue paying/providing non-cash benefits and Childcare Vouchers are considered a non-cash benefit. I would be interested to hear from any other organisations on this point.

  2. This was a concern for several employers, however many companies have now found that the benefits of childcare vouchers on recruitment, retention and employee engagement, as well as the employer’s NI savings outweigh any potential costs.
